Study in Greece at NAFSA 2025 Annual Conference & Expo

For the 5th consecutive year, Study in Greece participated in NAFSA Annual Conference & Expo – the world’s largest and must-attend conference and exposition uniting leaders, learners, and changemakers from 100+ nations. The 2025 NAFSA Annual Conference & Expo was held in San Diego, California, with the theme: Purpose, Place, and Partnership, providing exhibitors and attendees from around the world with increased learning, partnership, and engagement opportunities to enhance their internationalization strategies, foster synergies, and meet the growing demands of the global higher education landscape. 

SiG was there together with 10 Greek higher education institutions, to create awareness about the wide range of study options for international students in Greece. Greek university representatives had the opportunity to discover the global trends, latest innovations, new strategies, and best practices in order to inform their internationalization and recruitment strategies, as well as to network and engage with counterparts from different countries to explore ways of collaboration and build sustainable academic and research partnerships. 

Greek Mission Highlights: 

  • Vibrant Study in Greece pavilion, where 10 Greek universities including – Athens University of Economics and Business, National and Kapodistrian University of Athens, University of Thessaly, Hellenic Open University, University of Patras, Hellenic Mediterranean University, University of Crete, Technical University of Crete, International Hellenic Universityand Harokopio University – held over 200 meetings with current and prospective partners from the U.S. and many other countries. It’s worth noting that this year’s event attracted 8000 participants. 
  • SiG participation in the session titled: U.S. Priorities for Expanding Study Abroad Partnerships in the Mediterranean, organized by the Education USA, U.S. State Department, included in the program of the Conference, dedicated to the U.S.-Greece Strategic Partnership in Higher Education, offering us the opportunity to present the wide range of projects developed to promote enhanced collaboration between the universities of the two countries, and the fruitful outcomes. 
  • The presence and engagement of the Greek Ambassador to the U.S. at the SiG pavilion, reflecting the support and commitment of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to our shared vision to make Greece a vibrant international education hub.
  • Data & Drinks – The Greek Edition, an exclusive session on the latest international market trends and student interest in Greece, offered by Studyportals. Through real-time data our Studyportals partners identify internationalization opportunities for Greek institutions and discuss strategic development based on the latest market insights.

Greek universities’ dynamic presence at this year’s NAFSA highlights Greece’s ongoing efforts to internationalize its campus, engage globally, and reposition itself as an emerging study destination. SiG would like to extend a huge thank you to the Ministry of Education, Religious Affairs and Sports for its critical role, impactful support and significant contribution to our joint endeavors to materialize our shared vision, as well as to all Greek universities for this great and fruitful cooperation.
