The School of Medicine of the University of Crete is offering the educational programme “Children and Safe Sports Participation: Basic Cardiac Screening and General Health Assessment”, under the scientific supervision of Professor I. Germanakis, Professor of Pediatrics and Pediatric Cardiology.
🎯 Programme objectives
The programme aims to provide participants with essential knowledge of pre-participation screening in children, focusing on cardiovascular health, comprehensive health assessment and safe participation in sports activities.

• Cardiac history-taking and clinical examination

👩⚕️ Who can apply?
Medical, Nursing, Health Sciences, and Physical Education and Sports Science students and graduates, as well as healthcare professionals interested in children’s safe participation in sports.
💻 Format: Synchronous online learning, including interactive lectures, webinars and educational workshops.

• 27–28 November 2026: General health assessment and sports guidance
• 4 December 2026: Pediatric cardiology and sports
• 15–16 January 2027: Pediatric ECG workshop
• 29–30 January 2027: Pediatric cardiac auscultation workshop and certification examinations
🎓 Certification: Certificate of attendance from the University of Crete (2 ECTS) and a certificate of clinical skills proficiency issued by the programme organiser, following assessment.
