Founded in 1919 in Washington DC, the Institute of International Education (IIE) is a not-for-profit organization focusing on international academic partnerships and student exchange. IIE’s mission is to help people and organizations leverage the power of international education to thrive in today’s interconnected world by advancing scholarship, building economies and promoting access to opportunity. Fostering diplomacy through higher education cooperation, the Institute connects institutions for academic collaboration, and guides them in developing strategic partnerships. Aligned with this fundamental objective, the IIE worked together with the Greek Ministry of Education, the U.S. Embassy in Athens and the Fulbright Foundation in Greece to offer a new program – the IAPP Greece, which is dedicated to developing new partnerships and deepening existing ones between U.S. and Greek institutions of higher education. Toward this goal, delegates from 30 U.S. universities and colleges traveled to Greece in November 2022 (November 5, 2022 – November 11, 2022) for the Pharos Summit 2022: Greek-US Partnership in Higher Education.
The British Council is the United Kingdom’s international organization for cultural relations and educational opportunities. With more than 80 years of history and 100 offices worldwide the British Council’s principal mission is to enhance cultural relations and promote academic partnerships between the UK and the world.
Working in Greece since 1939, British Council Greece has offices in Athens and Thessaloniki, and offers a wide range of activities focusing on academic and research collaborations and partnerships between British and Greek higher education institutions.
To promote cooperation between UK and Greek universities, the British Council, the British Embassy in Athens, the Greek Ministry of Education, and Study in Greece jointly developed the ambitious UK – Greece Strategic Partnership in Education program, in March 2021. The program creates a “bridge” between the Greek and UK universities with the goal of fostering collaboration and synergies, including the creation of joint and dual study programs, students and faculty exchange, common research projects and other cutting-edge activities like capacity-building and internationalization workshops.
Established in 1962, the College Year in Athens (CYA), is a non-profit educational institution that has been acting as a cultural and educational bridge between the U.S. and Greece.
Offering a variety of outstanding courses in a wide range of disciplines, from ancient to contemporary studies, CYA enhances the academic cooperation between the U.S. and Greece, and deepens the two countries cultural relationships. Emphasizing learning beyond classroom, the organization’s programs are designed to encourage self-discovery, personal growth, and cross-cultural sensitivity. For more than 60 years, CYA has been forming generations of ambassadors of Greece and its culture in the U.S.
A MoU encouraging and promoting collaborations was signed between Study in Greece and CYA.
Fulbright is the flagship international educational and cultural exchange program of the United States of America in partnership with more than 160 countries worldwide. It offers competitive scholarships to students, scholars, artists, teachers and professionals of all backgrounds to study, teach and conduct research helping to build mutual understanding and find solutions to critical international concerns.
The United States Educational Foundation in Greece also known as Fulbright Greece was established in 1948 as a non-profit, non-political educational organization through a binational treaty between the United States and Greece. The Foundation fosters academic and cultural exchanges between Greece and the United States through the Fulbright Scholarship Program for Greek and U.S. citizens and the Advising Center for studies in the United States while it also provides information about study opportunities in Greece. Since 1948, the Foundation has offered free educational advising services to thousands of individuals and has awarded more than 6,000 scholarships facilitating student and scholar mobility between the two countries. Grant opportunities are offered in all fields and disciplines to students, scholars, teachers, professionals, scientists, and artists. Recruitment for all educational exchange programs is based on open and fair national competition as well as individual merit and academic excellence.
The Chinese Service Center for Scholarly Exchange (CSCSE) is an organization established in 1989 under the Chinese Ministry of Education to promote academic and educational exchanges between China and other countries. It serves as a bridge between Chinese educational institutions, government bodies, and international students, scholars, and researchers. The CSCSE administers various programs, manages the application process, and provides support to international students pursuing studies in China. Additionally, it organizes academic conferences, seminars, and workshops to facilitate interdisciplinary dialogue and research collaborations. Through its outreach efforts, the CSCSE raises awareness of educational opportunities in China and fosters international cooperation in the field of education.
In summary, the Chinese Service Center for Scholarly Exchange plays a crucial role in facilitating academic mobility and cultural exchange. By offering scholarships, organizing academic events, and providing comprehensive support services, the CSCSE contributes to the growth of international collaboration and mutual understanding in higher education.
Créé en 1907, l’Institut français de Grèce, service de coopération et d’action culturelle de l’Ambassade de France en Grèce, constitue le lien idéal avec la France et offre à ses étudiants ainsi qu’à son public, un environnement francophone unique en Grèce, riche en événements culturels.
Avec plus de 100 ans de présence remarquée dans la capitale, il figure parmi les plus importants du réseau mondial grâce à une amitié franco-grecque ancienne et forte.
Il organise et accueille chaque année de nombreuses manifestations dans ses espaces entièrement rénovés : colloques, conférences, tables rondes, présentations littéraires, conférences de presse, émissions de radio, représentations théâtrales, concerts de musique, projections de cinéma etc. Campus France, l’agence française pour la promotion de l’enseignement supérieur français, l’accueil et la mobilité internationale accompagne l’étudiant grec à chacune de ces étapes : information, aide au choix des formations et des établissements, financement du projet (bourses et autres financements), demande d’admission, demande de visa, préparation au départ.
L’Institut français de Grèce, passerelle d’éducation, de culture et d’échanges entre la France et la Grèce, aspire à maintenir et à continuellement renforcer les relations entre les deux pays.
