Study in Greece at the iDA–DAAD Regional Competence Seminar

On 12 December, Study in Greece (SiG) was honored to participate in the iDA-DAAD Regional Competence Seminar “Southern Europe for Universities of Applied Sciences: Italy, Spain and Greece”, organized by the DAAD Academy within the framework of the HAW.international initiative. The presentation was delivered by Diana Zhong, Head of International Partnerships at Study in Greece.

The seminar was designed for German Universities of Applied Sciences (Hochschulen für Angewandte Wissenschaften – HAWs) and aimed to strengthen region-specific expertise by providing practical insights into higher education systems, internationalization frameworks, and cooperation opportunities in Southern Europe, with a strong focus on applied and practice-oriented academic collaboration.

Within this context, SiG presented recent developments in Greek higher education internationalization, focusing on the rapid growth of English-taught degree programs and the newly established framework for Joint and Dual Degree (JDD) programs developed by Greek public universities.

The session also introduced Study in Greece (SiG) as the official organization supporting the internationalization of Greek higher education, acting as a central gateway and facilitator for international academic collaboration through:

  • centralized digital platforms for international students and academic mobility,
  • global promotion of Greek higher education, and
  • strategic international partnerships with leading national agencies, including DAAD (Germany), IIE and Fulbright Greece (USA), British Council (UK), CSCSE (China), Campus France (France), Uni-Italia (Italy), and partners in India.

In this role, SiG emphasized its function as a national-level partner for German institutions, supporting structured and scalable cooperation models aligned with the needs and profile of HAWs.

In close cooperation with DAAD, Study in Greece reaffirms its commitment to acting as a trusted national partner and facilitator for international academic collaboration, and to further deepening Greek-German higher education ties through structured, forward-looking initiatives.
