MSc in “Photonics & Nanoelectronics” – Call for Applications

The Department of Physics at the University of Crete, in collaboration with the Institute of Electronic Structure and Laser (IESL-FORTH), announces applications for its 18-month Master’s program in Photonics & Nanoelectronics.

This intensive research-led program trains scientists and engineers in advanced photonics, nanoelectronics, and modern device technologies. Students can tailor their studies through specialized coursework in:

  • Quantum physics, lasers, and optics
  • Micro- and nanoelectronic devices
  • Materials science and nanotechnology
  • System design and analysis techniques

The program offers access to a highly dynamic research environment, including state-of-the-art laboratories in epitaxial semiconductors, laser physics (including a major EU laser facility), and advanced functional materials. Students work closely with internationally recognized researchers and visiting scientists from across Europe and beyond—often leading to outstanding research and career opportunities.

The program combines rigorous academic training with hands-on research experience, preparing graduates for careers in academia, industry, and high-tech innovation sectors.

The deadline for submitting applications, and all supporting documents, is July 6, 2026.
