MSc in “Advanced Physics” – Call for Applications

The Department of Physics at the University of Crete invites applications for its one-year intensive Master’s program in Advanced Physics.

This research-driven program offers a strong foundation in modern physics, with specialization tracks in:

  • Astrophysics and Space Physics
  • Condensed Matter and Atomic Physics
  • Theoretical High Energy Physics and Cosmology

Students engage in advanced coursework while gaining hands-on experience in cutting-edge research methods. A key component of the program is the Master’s Thesis, conducted under the supervision of leading researchers and focused on frontier topics such as particle physics, cosmology, semiconductor physics, and atomic and molecular systems.

Participants benefit from access to world-class facilities, including the Institute of Electronic Structure and Laser at Foundation for Research and Technology Hellas and the Skinakas Observatory.

The program is fully taught in English, and the Master’s Thesis must also be written in English. Graduates may also apply to continue toward a PhD in their chosen specialization.

The deadline for submitting applications, and all supporting documents, is July 6, 2026.
