Study in Greece (SiG) joined higher education leaders from around the world at The Forum on Education Abroad Conference in Athens. This international event brought together educators and organizations to discuss the latest trends, challenges, and opportunities in higher education, with a focus on Europe, the Middle East, Africa, and the United States. SiG, dedicated to promoting Greek higher education globally, played a major role in highlighting the growing connections between Greek and American universities.
Highlighting U.S.-Greece Partnerships
SiG organized a panel discussion to showcase the strong educational partnerships between Greece and the United States. Distinguished speakers included Prof. Nancy Pouloudi from the Athens University of Economics and Business, Prof. Sophia Papaioannou from the University of Athens, and Dr. Evan Katsarelis from Harvard’s Center for Hellenic Studies in Greece. They shared how their institutions work with American universities to create joint programs, faculty exchanges, and study-abroad opportunities, which help build stronger academic and cultural connections.
Dr. Theodoros Papaioannou, SiG’s Executive Director, moderated the discussion. The panelists spoke about the progress made through these partnerships, which not only enhance learning but also give students and faculty valuable international experience.
SiG and its partners highlighted the progress Greek universities have made in internationalization, including offering courses in English and developing programs specifically for international students. Dr. Papaioannou thanked supporters for the chance to showcase these achievements, which help position Greece as a top choice for students from around the world.
Looking to the Future
This conference confirmed Greece’s commitment to expanding its role in global education. By strengthening ties with American universities, SiG is helping Greek institutions offer more opportunities for students and faculty worldwide. These partnerships are creating a more connected, diverse, and inclusive educational environment that benefits students from both Greece and the U.S.
Through initiatives like this, Study in Greece is actively working to make Greece a leader in international education, showing how cooperation across borders can enrich learning and open doors to new possibilities.
