Study in Greece Highlights Youth and Cultural Exchange at Chinese Embassy Event in Athens

Following SiG’s official mission to Beijing, Prof. Christos Michalakelis, President of Study in Greece (SiG), was warmly received by H.E. Ambassador FANG Qiu at the Chinese Embassy in Athens. The meeting focused on strengthening educational ties between Greece and China, with an emphasis on creating more opportunities for young people to study in each other’s countries. Both sides agreed that empowering youth through education fosters innovation, mutual understanding, and helps address challenges like brain drain by nurturing future-ready talent.

Later that day, Prof. Michalakelis, accompanied by George Chatzithanasis, SiG’s Operational Manager, and Diana Zhong, Head of International Partnerships, participated in the embassy-hosted event “Youth π NEOTHT∞ OPIA: Reading China”, held in honor of World Book and Copyright Day.

In his remarks, Prof. Michalakelis celebrated the shared cultural legacies of Greece and China, emphasizing the power of literature and education in connecting generations and civilizations. He reaffirmed SiG’s commitment to fostering academic and cultural bridges through international education and highlighted the universal value of knowledge and storytelling in shaping a more thoughtful, connected global society.
