The Strategic Plan for the Greek Diaspora 2024-2027 – SiG and MFA join forces

The Strategic Plan for the Greek Diaspora 2024-2027, unveiled in November at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, seeks to strengthen the ties between Greece and its global Greek community. It emphasizes fostering deeper connections with the Diaspora, encouraging two-way communication, and enhancing the global presence of Greek heritage. The plan is structured around six Strategic Axes, which outline its vision, goals, and actionable initiatives to build trust and ensure the preservation of Greek identity worldwide.

A key component of the plan is the collaboration between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Study in Greece, formalized through a cooperation protocol signed in April. This partnership aims to bridge Greek universities with the Diaspora and promote the teaching of Greek language, history, and culture to expatriates and philhellenes.

This collaboration is central to the Strategic Plan, emphasizing the international promotion of Greek educational institutions and their English-language programs, leveraging digital tools for wider reach. It also seeks to foster partnerships between Greek and international universities to develop joint initiatives, such as summer and winter schools or camps. With a strong focus on Greek language, history, and culture, these efforts aim to enhance global engagement and collaboration in education.
