Human Rights Law, Policy and Practice: Britain, Greece and the EU

Description

Living in a transition era of crisis and transformation, we are forced to reflect upon social and political phenomena which impact our social and private life. Human rights protection is a subject of utmost importance within this rapidly changing geo-political landscape.

The Department of Law at Goldsmiths University of London, in collaboration with academics from Greek universities –University of Macedonia, Harokopio University, Panteion University of Social and Political Sciences and Athens University of Economics and Business – and Study in Greece are offering the intensive summer school on Human Rights Law, Policy and Practice: Britain, Greece and the EU. The course is designed around an interdisciplinary curriculum that combines legal, international relations and
social science approaches to some of the most crucial issues of our times related to human rights, such as the migration/refugee crisis, viewed from a humanitarian, human rights and national security perspective, the rule of law crisis in Europe, the impact of populism on liberal democratic values (analyzed from the angle of the threat of Grexit, which did not materialize, and the reality of Brexit that will dominate EU-UK relations for many years to come) or the impact of austerity on human rights.
