A group of engineering students from Rowan University, USA, and their professor are currently in Volos to attend the “1st Fundamentals of Digital Design and Advanced Manufacturing” (DDAM) Summer School.
The University of Thessaly (UTH) recently deepened its international relations in the USA by organizing a Summer School in Volos with Rowan University and the Digital Engineering Hub (DEHub), directed by Professor Antonios Kontsos.
Professor Kontsos is the inaugural Director of DEHub and the first Henry M. Rowan Foundation Professor in Rowan University’s Mechanical Engineering Department at the Henry M. Rowan College of Engineering, a leading researcher in this innovative engineering area.
The Summer School kicked off on Monday, July 08, and focuses on the «Fundamentals of Digital Design and Advanced Manufacturing», addressing a cutting-edge topic in Mechanical Engineering. It began on Monday, July 8 and will last until Friday, July 12th. The group attending consists of 6 American students from Rowan University , 3 French students from Polytech Nantes, France, and 17 Greek students from UTH. They follow a one-week tight agenda module of in-class tutorials, group projects, industry visits, group project presentations and student awards, led by the academic coordinators Antonios Kontsos and Emmanouil Bouzakis, Associate Professor of Manufacturing in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at UTH.
UTH Vice-Rector of International Relations, Outreach & Lifelong Learning, Professor Spyros A. Karamanos commented: “We are delighted to organize and host this Summer School in Volos, aiming at enhancing the international academic activities of UTH as part of our internationalization efforts. Our ultimate goal is to establish this Summer School as an annual event between the two Universities, attracting more international students from Europe, US and other countries.”
