The SpaceDot student team of AUTh is nominated for the European Citizen Award 2022

The European Citizen Award 2022 is claimed by the interdisciplinary team SpaceDot of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki for the construction of the nanosatellite AcubeSAT, which is scheduled to be launched at the end of 2023. The proposal was submitted to the European Parliament by the MEP Maria Spyraki.

SpaceDot is a non-profit, volunteering and interdisciplinary student team, supported by the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki (AUTh). The team was founded in December 2020 and consists of more than 40 students from AUTh and other universities across Greece and Europe.

Its goal is to pave the way for innovative research on space applications. The team strives to actively support making space more accessible for the broad scientific and academic community as well as the general public.

The nanosatellite AcubeSAT is the first student satellite of Thessaloniki. It started from the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, with official approval from the European Space Agency (ESA) and with the aim of launching in 2023.
