Mrs. Ariadne Konstantinou was born and raised in Thessaloniki. For the last 20 years, however, she has been living and working in Israel, where she teaches ancient Greek at the Department of Classical Studies at Bar-Ilan University. In addition to the lessons she gives to students, she also participates in a radio show in which she shares stories from Greek mythology and Greek songs, which she translates into Hebrew.
“The radio show I participate in is two hours long. One of the two hours is exclusively dedicated to Greek music and is not the only show in Israel that “loves” Greek composers and lyricists so much,” said Mrs. Konstantinou on a show of the Greek channel ERT.
This period, on the occasion of the 200 years since the outbreak of the Greek Revolution of 1821, Professor Konstantinou presents weekly a Greek poet -as Giorgos Seferis, Odysseas Elytis and Dionysios Solomos- whose poetry has been set to music.
Furthermore, for the last two years Mrs. Konstantinou has been teaching an introductive course of Modern Greek language at the University. This is a real innovation, as it’s the only Greek language course taught in Israel.
