For the 3rd straight year, Study in Greece participated in NAFSA Annual Conference & Expo – the most renowned and prestigious higher education fair worldwide. The 2023 NAFSA Annual Conference & Expo was held in Washington, DC, with the theme: Inspiring an Inclusive Future, providing participants and attendees with the most diverse learning, engagement and networking opportunities for international education professionals at all levels of experience and in every specialty.
For SiG, the 75th NAFSA was a fascinating and insightful experience that offered us the opportunity to discover the latest innovations, new strategies, and best practices in the environment of international education. It was stimulating to connect with so many colleagues from around the world to exchange ideas and explore collaboration opportunities while also attending sessions developed by international education leaders and changemakers across the globe.
More specifically, SiG’s presence in the US fair boosted the Greek higher education internationalization, built upon the momentum of current initiatives and collaborations, and strengthened US-Greek academic ties.
Representing Greek higher education and committed to promoting Greek universities and their international study programs, SiG members had more than 50 business meetings with representatives of international institutions, such as the IIE, organizations, global education experts, study abroad consulting and marketing platforms and agents, and welcomed more than 8,000 visitors from 100 countries to the SiG booth (P1110) in the NAFSA Expo Hall.
This wide range of interactions and discussions provided us with the opportunity to increase awareness about Greek universities’ internationalization endeavors, as well as to embrace new innovative ideas and tools that will enable us to craft an updated and impactful outreach strategy by building a global network essential to our success.
NAFSA 2023 made us realize that Greece is a very attractive study abroad destination as expressed by study abroad officers and agents from diverse countries. A growing interest is also manifested in the development of academic and research collaborations with Greek universities in various scientific fields, something that encourages us to continue our work aimed at rebranding Greek higher education, connecting Greek with international universities and scholars, cultivating an internationally-oriented approach, and communicating the Greek HE internationalization message overseas.
Thank you to everyone who made this year’s conference such a success and hope to see you next year in New Orleans.
