On February 7th, 2024, in collaboration with the IIE and Fulbright Greece, Study in Greece successfully hosted the 1st instalment of “Pharos Future Dialogues,” a virtual discussion on funding mechanisms and other resources to build sustainable partnerships between Greek and American universities. This event, generated from IAPP Greece, served as a platform to foster enhanced cooperation, consultation on funding, and experience-sharing among academic institutions.
The event commenced with opening remarks by Study in Greece President, Prof. Christos Michalakelis, setting the stage for insightful discussions on existing initiatives and avenues for advancement in Hellenic-American collaboration. Dr. Susan B. Sutton, a distinguished leader with over four decades of experience in international education, delivered a keynote presentation highlighting the multifaceted investment essential for successful academic partnerships, emphasizing strategic planning, institutional commitment, and innovative funding mechanisms.
Following Dr. Sutton’s address, seven representatives from Greek and American universities showcased their collaborative endeavours. From case studies on accreditation and funding to dynamic joint presentations illustrating the power of global academic partnerships, each speaker provided valuable insights into their institution’s international collaborations.

- Professor Kostas Petridis, Hellenic Mediterranean University, and Professor Fafe from York College of Pennsylvania
- Professor Fragiskos Pavloudakis, University of Western Macedonia
Artemis A. Zenetou, renowned for her groundbreaking leadership as the head of the Fulbright Foundation in Greece, led a captivating Q&A session, engaging participants in stimulating dialogue. Additionally, attendees were invited to participate in a brief poll, ensuring future events are tailored to meet their needs and interests.
