MSc “Precision Medicine and Novel Therapies” – Call for Applications

The Hellenic Open University (HOU) is pleased to announce a new, Inter-Institutional Master’s level degree program entitled “Precision Medicine and Novel Therapies”. This Inter-Institutional program is undertaken by the Faculties of the School of Science and Technology of HOU and of the Biomedical Research Foundation of the Academy of Athens (BRFAA). Both Institutions and Faculties welcome all potential students who wish to succeed in the novel and exciting field of Precision Medicine.

Precision Medicine is the current perspective on how to understand, diagnose and treat life-threatening diseases, by taking into account a person’s genetic and epigenetic background, the environmental parameters they live in, and their habits. Precision Medicine follows a multiparametric approach and entails the diagnosis, as well as the implementation of a therapeutic regimen based on high-precision molecular data from patients after large-scale analyses.

This new MSc program has been constructed to provide a higher level of training in Precision Medicine and is thus ideally suited for graduates of Medical Schools, Pharmacy, Biology, Biochemistry, Biotechnology, Molecular Biology, Genetics, Bioinformatics, and other related disciplines, who wish to pursue a career in industry or academia within this rapidly growing field.

The program will enhance your free, creative and inductive thinking, as well as your ability to work in an international and interdisciplinary environment, while equiping you with cutting-edge knowledge, relevant to both the mechanisms of diseases and the technologies which serve the detection, diagnosis, and causal treatment of a disease. Moreover, the opportunity to work in laboratories that conduct highly competitive biomedical research is a unique feature of the program and will greatly assist you towards these goals.

This is a 2-year program and consists of 5 taught compulsory Modules, 2 Laboratory modules (chosen from 3) and a Thesis Module (by Research or by Literature) for a total of 120 ECTs.

The platform for applications for the Fall Semester of the academic year is open. See more Precision Medicine and Novel Therapies (PRETH) HOU (eap.gr)
