The Department of Medicine of the Democritus University of Thrace (DUTH) in collaboration with the Department of Biomedical Sciences of the International University of Greece (IHU) announce the start of the 1st cycle of the Interinstitutional Postgraduate Program (MSc) entitled: «Biomedical and Molecular Sciences – Diagnosis and Treatment of Ηuman Diseases» in the academic year 2024-25.
The purpose of our MSc is to give students a comprehensive picture of Bio-medical and molecular science applications and to link their professional training with the labor market. The implementation of the program includes three training semesters with a homogeneous and equal distribution of their educational content: a) Series of theoretical courses and seminars, b) Cycle of practical training and practice and c) Training in research thinking and practice in the development and application of molecular techniques. Additionally, the utmost importance is the acquisition of critical and research skills, with the ultimate goal of the ability to successfully produce a high-level Master Thesis. The program will accede up to fifty (50) students. In our MSc are accepted graduates of Departments in Medicine, Dentistry, Biomedical Science, Pharmacy, Biology, Agriculture, Chemistry, Physics, Nursing, Veterinary Medicine, Biochemistry, Biotechnology, Molecular Biology, Mathematics, Engineering, Polytechnic Schools, Economics and Management Sciences, Informatics, Social and Humanities, Physical Education Sciences, Nutrition, Aesthetics-Cosmetology and other Universities of the country and recognized foreign equivalent institutions, as well as graduates of TEI Departments of Medical Laboratory Technologies, but also of other Departments of a related subject. Also, graduates of other Departments of AEI, TEI or other Higher Schools can also be admitted, after a decision of the Program Study Committee (PSC).
The duration of this MSc is four (4) semesters [120 ECTH] and the lessons will take place either in the Dept of Medicine, DUTH in Alexandroupolis or in the Dept of Biomedical Sciences of IHU in Thessaloniki. Timetable will be announced by time each year.

- Copy of their degree and other qualifications
- Photocopy of their ID
- A recent picture of themself
- Proof of knowledge of the English language or a responsible declaration of satisfactory language skills (which will be examined during the possible oral examination)
- A short Curriculum Vitae showing studies, scientific, research and professional experience
- Copies of publications or relevant research or professional activity of the candidate related to the academic subject of the MSc.
- Recommendation letter(s) up to 2 optional from faculty members or employers.
- Evidence regarding the previously mentioned scoring criteria.
- Interview by a competent Committee.
- The method of evaluation (scoring) of the above criteria belongs to the competence of the PSC.
The tuition fees for each student amount to €6000 (advance payment upon acceptance of the application €2000).

September 25th: End of acceptance of applications at the Secretariat of Medicine
September 30th: Announcement of the list with students that have been accepted in the program and runner-up students.
October: Courses start
The courses will be held in intensive modules in the majority of them outside weekdays and by internet (ZOOM) to facilitate the follow-up of the postgraduate program by workers and residents in other cities or countries alternating between Alexandroupolis and Thessaloniki.
