On 27.1.2022, Harokopio University and Study in Greece welcomed Ms. Begard Talabani, Minister of Agriculture and Water Resources of the Kurdistan Regional Government, who visited Greece on a three-day working visit accompanied by Deputy Head of the Department of Foreign Relations of KRI, Daban Shadala.

Dr. Theodoros Papaioannou, Director of Academic Affairs at SiG, presented to Ms. Talabani the project and its actions to support the extroversion and internationalization of Greek Universities. Prof. Konstantinos Abeliotis from the School of Environment, Geography and Applied Economics of Harokopio University, presented the university, its schools and mission, providing as well his insights on environmental and agricultural issues related to the areas of interest of the Kurdish Minister including food waste and water resources management.

In the course of her visit to Greece, Ms. Talabani also met with the leadership of the Ministry of Rural Development and Food, the Ministry of Environment and Energy, as well as the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The two sides’ dialogue seems fruitful and promising since Greeks and Kurds expressed their willingness to cooperate closely by establishing synergies in vital socioeconomic and scientific fields.
