The student engineering team Oceanos from the School of Naval Architecture and Marine Engineering, representing the National Technical University of Athens and their country, Greece, in the international competition Monaco Energy Boat Challenge 2023, secured the 2nd place in the General Rankings, and the 1st place in the Slalom and Championship races.
To participate successfully, the team created an electric racing boat, designing the energy storage (lithium battery pack), power transmission systems (electric motor paired with an outboard pod), and propulsive equipment (design and printing of 3D propellers) in-house.
The great achievements are the result of hard work throughout the 2022-23 academic year. The support our team received from our school, the laboratories and professors, as well as the sponsors who gave material and financial support for the project, was critical to our success.
The team’s overall results are the following:
- 6/7 Qualifying Laps – 1st place.
- 7/7 Endurance target=”_blank” Race – 4th place.
- 8/7 Slalom Race – 1st place.
- 8/7 Championship Race – 1st place.
