Another new, important distinction was achieved by the team of the Law School of NKUA, which participated in the International Virtual Trial Competition ELMC 2021-2022 (http://www.europeanlawmootcourt.eu/).
The undergraduate students’ team participated in the written phase of the process by submitting petitions. Then, it qualified for the Madrid Regional Final, which took place from 24 to 27 March 2022, and was one of the 4 best teams in the Regional Final and, overall, one of the 8 best in the entire competition.
The team of the Athens Law School consisted of undergraduate students Georgia (Gina) Kanellopoulou, Penelope (Pelia) Manteli, Maria-Eleni (Marilena) Mavragani and Vassilis Christodoulou, while the students Ioanna Pasia and Theodora Sfakianaki also participated in the stage of writing the written memoranda.
The European Law Moot Court is an annual international competition which is held between University teams of students who have an interest in European Union Law.
It is organized by the ELMC Society, founded in 1988. It is today considered as the most prestigious moot court within the field of European Union Law and one of the most important moot court competitions in the world.
A peculiarity of the competition that differentiates it from others, is the bilingualism, which is graded, as the teams are invited to develop their claims in English and French.
The students Emmanuela Giannoudakou, Nikos Kalantzis, Alexandra Kormentza, Alexandra Kornilaki and Alexia Paparsenou, who were members of the team that participated in the competition in 2020-2021, undertook the preparation.
The academic supervision of the team was provided by the faculty members Rebecca– Emmanouela Papadopoulou, Metaxia Kouskouna and Emmanuel Perakis.
