Harokopio University managed to be in the first place of the publications per faculty member. This is a distinction of significant important for the small institution. It is indicative that Harokopio University was also in the first place in the section of criteria that was mandatory in the evaluation made by the Hellenic Authority for Higher Education (HAHE) for the distribution of 20% of the annual funding to the HEIs.
Harokopio University occupies the 1st place with 4,588 publications per academic. The first five places are completed by the NTUA (with 3,953 publications for each of its professors), the University of Athens (with a ratio of 3,129), the University οf Crete (with a ratio of 3,086) and the Agricultural University of Athens (ratio of 3,027). The top ten is completed by the Technical University of Crete (2,667), the University of Patras (2,638), the University of Ioannina (2,588), the University of Thessaly (2,403) and the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki (2,361).
According to the latest data from the National Documentation Center of the National Hellenic Research Foundation, during the years 2014-2018 the participation of universities in the total of scientific publications is 86.1% (with 51,198 publications).
In the section related to the continuous improvement of the basic academic activities of each university, Harokopio collected 1,185 points, followed by EKPA (1,124), NTUA (1,112), the University of Crete (1,047) and the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki (1,001).
