IAPP – Enhancing U.S.-Greece Academic Collaboration through International Academic Partnerships

The IIE (Institute of International Education) in partnership with the Greek Ministry of Education and Religious Affairs is excited to announce the launch of the IAPP (International Academic Partnerships Program) Greece! Up to twenty eight U.S. higher education institutions will be selected to participated in an intensive 6-month journey that provides institutions with the knowledge, advice and face-to-face connections needed to start new partnership activities with a Greek counterpart or enhance existing collaboration.

Greece holds a special place for the U.S. Its ancient history and teachings figure prominently in our culture. Engaging with Greece today deepens our understanding of its past, while also opening conversations on its role in the contemporary world – at the crossroads of East and West, a valued U.S. ally, a center for research on climate and health, and one of the safest places to travel in the world. It is for such reasons that record numbers of U.S. students now study abroad in Greece (it is the 14th most popular destination and rising), mainly on faculty-led programs or through provider organizations.

This IAPP offers the opportunity to meet this growing interest through direct partnerships with Greek universities, partnerships that can fully integrate student experiences in Greece with programming at their home U.S. institutions and that build long-term faculty and staff engagement on a host of curricular, research, and civic engagement projects. The goals are quality over quantity, sustainability over time, and fostering the long-term conversations that enable institutions to identify the right partners and programs for maximum mutual impact.
