Athens University of Economics & Business graduate Sotirios Ptochos won the prestigious MBA Startup of the Year 2022 Award at the AMBA & BGA Excellence Awards.
Sotirios Ptochos, a graduate of the MBA International Program of the Athens University of Economics and Business, has won the MBA Startup of the Year 2022 Award of the world-renowned Association of MBAs (AMBA) and Business Graduates Association (BGA) Excellence Awards 2022, for his company PEOPLE.
The AMBA & BGA Excellence Awards, which were held virtually on the 21st of January 2022, brought together leading lights from the global business education community to celebrate excellence and commend achievement among Business Schools, MBA students and graduates, suppliers and employers. The ceremony was attended by more than 350 Business School leaders, as well as category finalists, judges and media representatives.

Mr. Sotirios Ptochos with his Startup PEOPLE earned the Gold Award in the category Startup of the Year, placing his company and the Athens University of Economics and Business (AUEB) in the elite of the initiatives presented in the AMBA & BGA Excellence Awards for 2022. PEOPLE proposes to the world a green solution that concerns us all. This startup represents a revolutionary approach to one of the most significant climate challenges by proposing sustainable transportation and supply chain solutions. The company combines lightweight technology, the Internet of Things, and advanced analytics with the aim of revolutionising the standards of global freight transport by saving over 205 million trees; reducing C02 emissions by more than 800 million tonnes every year; saving over 250 billion litres of fossil fuel yearly; and be able to move moving hundreds million tonnes of cargo at no additional cost or additional C02 emissions every year.
