University of Thessaly

The University of Thessaly is located in Central Greece, with campuses in five cities: Volos, Larissa, Karditsa, Trikala and Lamia. Technical University of Crete

Master of Science in Machine Learning and Data Science

The Machine Learning and Data Science (MLDS) Master’s program in the School of Electrical and Computer Engineering at the Technical University of Crete accepts students with a strong background in computer science, physics, software engineering, statistics, econometrics, or applied mathematics, or a similar field. Applicants are expected to have at least some knowledge of programming fundamentals. All program activities take place in English.

We offer a well-focused, state-of-the-art curriculum that involves hands-on learning. Our faculty hold doctoral degrees from esteemed European and American universities. Most of us have held academic or research positions in North America and Europe. We spend time with students outside the classroom as they work on their capstone projects. Seminar talks given by researchers from universities, research institutes, and industry provide students with networking opportunities. The tuition fees are very competitive: the entire program costs 500 euros for residents of the European Economic Area (EU countries, Iceland, Liechtenstein and Norway) and 1,000 euros for non-residents.

University of Patras

The University of Patras was founded in the city of Patras in 1964 and started to operate in academic year 1966-1967. In June 2013 the University of Western Greece was integrated into the University of Patras. In 2019 the majority of the departments of the Technological Educational Institute of Western Greece were also integrated into the University of Patras.

It is situated in Patras, Agrinion and Messolonghi. The main campus is located 7 km North East of the city of Patras, in the suburb of Rion. The campus lies on the foothills of Mount Panachaico with a view over the Corinthian Gulf and to the mountains of Central Greece across the sea.

It is the 3 rd largest University in Greece in terms of students, faculty members, administrative personnel, number of departments and degrees awarded. The University has acquired a reputation for producing quality and innovative research and for taking part in a plethora of research projects, scientific organizations and research groups.

The General University Hospital of Patras is located next to the University. Rio has become a very important transport junction for Western Greece, especially since the construction of the Rio-Antirrio Bridge, which connects the suburb of Rio with the town of Antirrio, linking the Peloponnese peninsula with mainland Greece and thus giving residents and visitors quick and easy access to mainland Greece.

The Harokopio University of Athens is a state University, founded by the national benefactor Panagis Harokopos in 1919 while operating in its current legal form since 1990. The main campus is located on two hectares of an estate in the Municipality of Kallithea near Athens city center. International Hellenic University

The multi-campus and multi-cultural Greek University

The International Hellenic University (IHU) was initially established by Law (No 3391/2005) as the first and only Greek public University where all postgraduate programmes were taught exclusively in English. It was re-established by Law (No 4610/2019 & Νο 5094/2024), is based in Thessaloniki, located in several campuses (Thessaloniki, Serres, Katerini, Kilkis) and comprises 8 Schools and 25 Departments, offering undergraduate, postgraduate and doctoral programmes.

The IHU operates the University Center of International Programmes of Studies (UCIPS) which is situated in Thermi, Thessaloniki and offers twenty-six (26) specialist postgraduate programmes in cutting edge disciplines, taught exclusively in English. National and Kapodistrian University of Athens

MEDICAL DEGREE English program

National and Kapodistrian University of Athens

BA Program in the Archaeology, History, and Literature of Ancient Greece

The Program offers a wide-ranging degree devoted to Classical Greek culture. Students have the opportunity to study the archaeological monuments and the history of Greece. They familiarize themselves with the ancient Greek and Latin languages through the systematic examination of important ancient texts. The curriculum includes a number of classes in Modern Greek, offered free of charge to all students during the first year of their studies. The interdisciplinary nature of the Program allows students to think both critically and imaginatively, write well-structured essays, as well as interpret complex sets of data.

International Programs

Agricultural University of Athens is the third Oldest University in Greece, which holds a dominant position upon the area of Geotechnical and Agri-food Higher Education and Research, at both national and international level. AUA is a prodigious Green University, as it is a key partner of the European University EU CONEXUS about Smart Urban Coastal Sustainability. It plays a principal role in significant participating Hubs, such as the Smart –AGROHUB, inasmuch the Network and Community Partners of the EIT Food Initiative, which is a Pan-European Consortium, focused upon entrepreneurship and innovation development in the food sector, by different partners across Europe. An International Joint Master’s Degree Program – Erasmus Mundus in Marine Biotechnology, besides the FL Master of Science (MSc) Program, entitled Digital Technologies and Smart Infrastructure in Agriculture, have been functioning since September 2022.

Master of Science Scholarships in Business Economics and Management

The two-year full-time M.Sc. program in Business Economics and Management (120ECTS) is an intensive postgraduate program designed for students who are committed to becoming innovators in the academic/entrepreneurial world. Master of Science Scholarships in Geoinformation in Environmental Management

The Geoinformation in Environmental Management programme focuses on the ever-growing demand for highly specialized and effectively educated scientists to tackle significant environmental issues in today’s natural environment with geoinformation and relevant tools, leading to the MSc degree (120 ECTS).

In the first year, graduates, professionals and specialists from the Mediterranean and Balkan regions major in a compatible discipline with background knowledge on environmental issues. They have the opportunity to specialize in (a) the management of Mediterranean ecosystems, (b) Geographical Information Systems and Remote Sensing, and their application to environmental management, and (c) the use of decision support tools for strategic and environmental impact assessment within the environmental policy and legislative framework of the European Union. They then have the opportunity to develop a research-based thesis in their second year. The attainment of the M.Sc. degree certifies in-depth academic knowledge and practical skills in Environmental Management and the use of Geoinformation, enabling the pursuit of doctorate studies and/or a career in both the public and private sectors.

Master of Science Scholarships in Food Quality and Chemistry of Natural Products

Consumers’ increasing awareness of issues related to food and bioactive ingredients has formed the basis for the MSc (120 ECTS) in Food Quality and Chemistry of Natural Products. Following an interdisciplinary approach, the the programme aims to connect the bidirectional relationship of Food Science and Natural Products. Current challenges in sustainable food systems require the application of circular economy principles that focus on the reduction of waste and the efficient re-use of food by-products. Recovery of biomolecules with non-toxic “Green” solvents and valorization of food industry wastes is included in the Department’s research activities.

In the first year of the chemistry-oriented programme, students acquire theoretical knowledge in Food Science, Food Authenticity, Analytical/Laboratory Techniques and various aspects of the Chemistry of Natural Products. They then have the opportunity to develop a research-based thesis in their second year. The attainment of the M.Sc. degree qualifies them to successfully continue their doctorate studies and/or pursue an expert’s career in both the public and private sector.

Master of Science Scholarships in Horticultural Genetics and Biotechnology

The major aim of the Horticultural Genetics & Biotechnology MSc programme (120 ECTS) is to provide students with a thorough grounding in the mechanisms, capabilities, uses and limitations of plant biotechnological methods in order to apply them to problems related to horticultural production and product quality. MSc graduates can pursue an academic career in biotechnology, genetics and/or molecular biology, work in agribusiness or in agricultural governmental bodies.

In the first year, students acquire technical skills in plant biotechnology and genetics; develop conceptual knowledge and critical thinking skills and learn to design and test hypotheses related to horticultural research on plant biology and physiology; learn to communicate research outputs; demonstrate an understanding of the advantages and limitations of –omics technological platforms (genomics, metabolomics) and how they are used to solve problems; learn how to find/cite sources, and use knowledge acquired from model plants such as Arabidopsis to formulate research approaches for horticultural crops of their interest. They then have the opportunity to develop a research-based thesis in their second year.

Master of Science Scholarships in Sustainable Agriculture

The two-year postgraduate Sustainable Agriculture programme is aimed at graduates in Agriculture or other related sciences leading to a MSc degree (120 ECTS).

In the first year participants are introduced to agroecology, environmental indicators of integrated crop management and organic farming systems; familiarize themselves with the certification systems of environmentally friendly and sustainable agricultural production; present the latest advances in the management of soil, water and genetic resources in agriculture; are exposed to a thorough background of crop protection; get acquainted with automation and modern recycled soilless greenhouse production methods; and understand innovation and communication for sustainable farming. Students pursue their research in an environment fully equipped with the most updated facilities. They then have the opportunity to develop a research-based thesis in their second year.

The scientific results of graduate studies are usually announced in International Conferences and/or published in world-renowned journals.

Scholarships for U.S. citizens who wish  to study, conduct research or lecture in Greek educational institutions:

Fulbright Scholar Program
For scholars who wish to lecture and/or conduct research in Greece. Applicants must possess a doctoral or terminal degree in their field and secure an institutional affiliation in Greece. Grants are awarded for a period of three to four months in a variety of academic and professional fields.

Fulbright Student Program
For students who wish to conduct independent research. The program is open to holders of a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree and for Ph.D. candidates for dissertation research purposes. Applicants must secure an institutional affiliation in Greece. Grants are awarded for a period of nine months (academic program). Six-month grants will be considered for art projects and Ph.D. candidates. Grants are offered in all disciplines.

Fulbright-IKY Ph.D. Research Award
The Greek State Scholarship Foundation – IKY in collaboration with Fulbright Greece will fund up to four awards to Ph.D. candidates for dissertation research purposes. These grants cover a six-month period and Ph.D. candidates from all disciplines are eligible to apply. Applicants are required to secure affiliation(s) in Greece and submit letters of invitation/affiliation indicating name/position of host and details on the collaboration with one or more Greek State Universities and/or research organizations/institutions. 

Graduate Studies at Greek State Universities Award
This award supports enrollment at Master’s programs offered in English by Greek State Universities. The choice of program and discipline lies with the applicant. All fields are eligible. Students must be officially admitted to the Greek graduate program of their choice in order to be granted Fulbright status and benefits.
