The establishment of a joint research center called “Greece and Eastern Mediterranean Research Center (GEMRC)” was signed online by the Rector of the University of Western Macedonia Professor Theodoros Theodoulidis and the Director of the Department of International Relations of China Three Gorges University (CTG) Dr. XI Jing.

Through the joint research center GEMRC the two Institutions collaborate for the development of academic and educational cooperation in scientific research, staff training, the strengthening of cultural exchanges and the elaboration of joint educational and research programs. GEMRC will initially operate in China based in Hubei Province and in the second year it is planned to operate at the premises of the University of Western Macedonia in Kozani.

This cooperation is part of the activities undertaken to strengthen the extroversion and internationalization of the UOWM. At the same time, it is taking place at a time when the Ministry of Education and Religions, in cooperation with the China Education Association for International Exchange (CEAIE), the national educational internationalization body of the People’s Republic of China, is promoting cooperation between the Universities of the two countries.
