Another distinction for the University of Thessaly and its excellent professors confirms that the level of teaching in the institution is very high. 20 of its professors were ranked among the top scientists in the world, the Emeritus Professor Konstantinos Kittas as well as Professor Athanassiou Christos of the Department of Crop Production and Rural Environment.

The recently published catalogs (PLoS Biology 2020, Mendeley Data 2020) with the upper 2% of influential scientists in 22 distinct scientific fields, include 20 faculty members of the University of Thessaly, who serve in the Departments of Agriculture, Ichthyology and Aquatic Environment, Agriculture Rural Environment, Food and Nutrition Science, Physical Education and Sports Science, Electrical and Computer Engineering, Medicine, Veterinary Medicine, Mechanical Engineering, Informatics with Applications in Biomedicine and Digital Systems. The scientists are the following:
