Collaboration between the Departments of Epidemiology at NKUA and Harvard strengthening their academic relationship

The Rector of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens, Professor Gerasimos Siasos, announced the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding between Harvard University and the NKUA. The Memorandum was signed by the President of the School of Medicine, Professor Nikolaos Arkadopoulos and the Dean of the School of Public Health, Professor Jane J. Kim, and concerns collaboration between the Departments of Epidemiology of the two universities on educational and research issues.

Under the terms of the cooperation, a clinical epidemiology summer program will be organized, and teaching staff and students will work together on topics related to medical research methodology, epidemiology of infectious diseases, cancer, cardiovascular disease, and other chronic diseases, as well as nutritional epidemiology. These collaborations will be either tuition- or scholarship-based.

The graduates will be granted a certificate which will bear the seal of both university institutions.

The Summer Master Degree Program will last a few months, and it will be for postgraduate students, while there will be student and professor exchanges between the two Institutions.
