“Study in Greece” (SiG) is a research team, consisting of members from the Greek academic community, aiming to operate as a cultural and educational bridge between Greece and other countries. Part of its core mission is:
SiG was initiated in December 2014 as a voluntary action representing all Greek Higher Education Institutes and aiming to cover the lack of information regarding studies in Greece, as this was a continuous demand of the Embassies and Diplomatic Authorities of Greece abroad. Additionally, SiG aims to fulfill the need for a “one stop shop” for the provision of information regarding studies and higher education institutes in Greece, the organization of educational activities, such as study abroad programs, summer/ winter schools, workshops, conferences, etc. and the academic networking between Greek and international researchers. SiG also aspires to become the point of reference for the Greeks abroad, who can find useful information about studies and educational activities, as for example heritage schools.
The action is under the auspices of the Greek Ministries of Foreign Affairs (http://www.mfa.gr), Education and Religious Affairs (http://www.minedu.gov.gr) and Tourism (http://www.mintour.gr). The SiG portal constitutes the official source of information regarding studies in Greece. The Ministries, as well as Greek Embassies and Diplomatic Authorities of Greece abroad, host a link to the Study in Greece portal on the homepage of their web sites, while SiG’s monthly newsletter is emailed to all Greek Universities Faculty members by the Ministry of Education. SiG is continuously expanding its worldwide network of collaborating organizations, universities and educational and cultural organizations, through the signing of Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs).
SiG action is supported by two Advisory Boards, the Academic and the Operational Advisory Board. They consist of academics over a wide range of fields, from both Greek and international Universities, as well as experienced professionals related to educational and cultural organizations, all sharing the same vision, to make Greek an international educational destination and choice.
Apart from a hub of information promoting educational activities of Greek and international educational institutions, Study in Greece can also offer a wide range of services, as it can plan, organize and implement various educational activities, such as Study Abroad Programs, Conferences / Summits/ Workshops, Summer / Winter Schools / Travel Study Programs / Internships, etc. all programs are implemented in collaboration with Greek Universities and educational organizations. The added value and the success of these programs can be better ensured with the participation of academics, faculty members and undergraduate or graduate students from Greek educational institutions, providing a faster cultural immersion and a better overall experience to the foreign participants and acting as constant contacts with the people, landscapes, monuments, history and every-day life of Greece. In addition this immersion supports the development of networking opportunities between visiting researchers and Greek faculty and/or educational institutions.
