5 Greek Universities in the top 2,000 leading HE institutes in the world

The Center for World University Rankings (CWUR) has published the rankings of the 2,000 best universities in the world for the year 2021-2022. The ranking is published for the 10th consecutive year and was based on the evaluation and rating of 19,788 universities worldwide, among which the best 2,000 stood out.

This year’s ranking confirmed the high position of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens, which ranks 264th among the 2,000 best HE Institutes, rising three (3) places in comparison with last year’s ranking and thirty-three (33) in comparison with the 2019-2020 ranking.

At the same time it occupies the 1st place among the twelve (12) Greek Universities included in the ranking, with the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki being in the 2nd place in Greece and the 409th in the world, the National Technical University in the 3rd place and in the 548th place in the world, the University of Ioannina in the 4th place (from 5th place last year) and 676th place worldwide, while the top five of Greek universities closes with the University of Crete which finds itself in the 702nd place worldwide.

UOA also ranks 217th in the world in the sub-sector of “Research Performance”, a sector that contributes to the 40% of the ranking.
