“On the 19th of September 2023, a distinguished delegation from 24 esteemed Chinese universities commenced on a momentous visit to the hallowed hall of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens, where they were graciously received amidst the splendor of the university’s historic edifice. Commencing this significant encounter, the university’s erudite historian unveiled a captivating narrative of the institution’s storied legacy, illuminating its rich history.
Subsequently, the venerable Rector Prof. Gerasimos Siasos delivered a heartfelt address to the esteemed Chinese delegates, underscoring the paramount importance of fortifying the bonds that unite them with their counterparts in Chinese academia. In a further testament to the enduring connections, the Vice-Rector Prof. Sophia Papaioannou, the esteemed Dean of the School of Philosophy Prof. Eleni Karamalegkou, and the Head of Public and International Relations Ms. Sotiria-Alexandra Sakellariou presented an impressive showcase of the academic milestones achieved through fruitful collaborations with various Chinese universities, expressing their ardent desire for further synergies.
With the stage thus set, Mr. Fang Yongsheng, the Deputy Director General of Chinese Service Center for Scholarly Exchange (CSCSE), conveyed his genuine delight at the privilege of meeting with the Rector, Vice-rector. He voiced an earnest aspiration to cultivate even deeper academic partnerships between China and Greece. Representing their respective institutions, the five rectors from the Chinese university delegation also eloquently articulated their universities’ global vision and aspirations for enhanced international academic cooperation.
